Innovation and influence as an intrapreneur on 3/26

Join us at the next Innovation Café on Thursday, March 26 at 8:00 a.m. in the Hershey Center for Applied Research as we discuss how to innovate and influence as an intrapreneur.

A growing business trend, an intrapreneur describes an individual within a larger established organization who is directly responsible for turning an idea into a profitable products or service through innovation and risk-taking behaviors displayed in an entrepreneur. Nationally recognized speaker, business strategist and corporate trainer Marion Chamberlain will share tips on how to serve as an organizational innovation leader and impact growth by becoming an entrepreneur on the job.

Marion brings more than 15 years experience working with entrepreneurs, start-up companies and executive leaders at a variety of leading organizations and academic institutions helping to create leaders who inspire change and spark innovation.

A light breakfast and networking begins at 8:00 a.m. followed by the formal program at 8:30 a.m.

Join us at the Cocoa Beanery June 19 for the summer networking event

MGCB_CanoeOvalJoin us for our Innovation Café summer networking event on Thursday, June 19 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Cocoa Beanery in Hummelstown, Pa. Come for great networking, music, and samples from the area’s newest start-up, the small-batch brewing company, Mount Gretna Craft Brewery.

The event will include complimentary craft beer tastings from Mount Gretna Craft Brewery and appetizers from the Cocoa Beanery. Blues singer and songwriter Danielle Miraglia will also perform as part of theHershey Farmers Market Summer Concert Series. The Farmers Market was established in 2010 to increase accessibility to healthy, locally-grown foods in the community and sponsors a series of free concerts every Thursday.

Central Pennsylvania gathers to discuss funding for new technologies

On February 12th the Central Pennsylvania entrepreneurial community gathered to discuss where to find capital to commercialize new technologies.  A panel of experts including Kelly Wylam, director of the Innovation Partnership, Mel Billingsley, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Life Sciences Greenhouse of Central Pennsylvania, Richard Heddleson, director at Ben Franklin Technology PArtners, Michael Hund, attorney at McNees Wallace and Nurick, and Ira Wallace, M.D., M.B.A., regional vice president of the Keiretsu Forum Mid-Atlantic, provided the audience with tips, techniques and resources to engage investors and raise funds for a new technology.

The Innovation Cafe is going big in 2014! On February 12, we will be hosting a SUPER SIZED event focused on finding capital for early-stage technologies in Central Pennsylvania.

The program will begin with networking and a light breakfast at 8:00 a.m. in the Penn State Hershey University Conference Center.  Michael Hund, J.D., attorney at McNees Wallace & Nurick, LLC will kick off the program discussing the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) rules and guidelines for soliciting investors.

Kelly Wylam, director of the Innovation Partnership will share opportunities and resources available for early-stage companies to secure federal funding. The goal of the Innovation Partnership is to help early-stage technology companies in Pennsylvania secure federal funding.

To conclude the program, a panel of investment experts including; Mel Billingsley, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Life Sciences Greenhouse of Central Pennsylvania, Steve Brawley, president and CEO of Ben Franklin Technology PArtners of Northern and Central Pennsylvania, and Ira Wallace, M.D., M.B.A, who serves as the regional vice president for Keiretsu Forum Mid-Atlantic.
